Biography

Eugene Seale, Jr. (born June 3, 1964) is a former professional American football linebacker in the National Football League. He played six seasons for the Houston Oilers (1987–1992.)

Early life and football career

Eugene Seale was born on 3 June 1964, in Jasper, Texas. He went to Jasper High School in Jasper. Later, he attended Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas, where he was active in athletics, excelling as the university's football team's linebacker. He was a Division I-AA first-team All-America selection and a second-team choice in 1984 and 1985 while earning All-Southland Conference honors each year. He set the university record for career tackles with 500 in just three seasons and logged a single-season mark of 170 tackles in 1983. He started his career by intercepting a pass and returning it 52 yards for a touchdown.

In 1983, Seale was named the Southland Conference's Defensive Player of the Year, after winning the league's player of the week award five times.

Seale graduated from Lamar University in 1985 and two years later, in 1987, joined the Houston Oilers and played six seasons with the club, until 1992.

In 1991, Seale was inducted in Lamar University's Cardinal Hall of Honor.
