Biography

Eric Arthur Morris (born 30 September 1951 in Stranraer) is a Scottish former professional football player who is best known for his time with Ayr United.
Morris began his career with Muirkirk and had a trial with Hamilton Academical in 1968. In 1972–73, he had a season with Irvine Meadow in which the club reached the final of the Scottish Junior Cup against Cambuslang Rangers. Morris scored once in the final which finished 2–2, then twice in the replay which finished 3–3. Meadow eventually won the second replay 1–0, and Morris's performances attracted the attention of Rangers to whom he moved in 1973.
He made with debut for the Glasgow club in a Scottish League Cup tie against Arbroath in August 1973, but rarely featured in the first-team over a six-year spell. His only goal for the club coming in a Scottish Cup tie against Queen's Park in January 1974. Morris moved to Ayr United in 1979. After over 200 appearances at Somerset Park he returned to Junior football with Cumnock Juniors.
