Biography
Senger David Peralta Guerrero (born August 14, 1987) is a Venezuelan professional baseball outfielder for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Early life
David Peralta was born on August 14, 1987 in Valencia, Venezuela where he grew up with two sisters, Yvonne and Erica. His father is also named David Peralta, and his mother is Celina Peralta.
Career
Peralta started his career as a pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinals organization in 2006, having signed with the team in 2005 for a $35,000 bonus. After numerous injuries and two shoulder surgeries, the Cardinals released Peralta in May 2009. He then played as an outfielder in independent baseball for the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings, Wichita Wingnuts and Amarillo Sox. In 2013, he signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Peralta was called up to the majors for the first time on June 1, 2014. He made his major league debut that day. He tied a Diamondbacks record by recording 7 multi-hit games in his first 15 games, hitting .328 with 1 HR and 2 RBI. 2015 was a breakout season for Peralta, who hit well above .300 and racked up impressive runs scored, RBIs, and HRs in fewer than 450 ABs as the Diamondbacks' primary left fielder.
