David Gems is a British geneticist and biogerontologist. He is Professor of Biology of Ageing at University College London where he is also Deputy Director of the Institute of Healthy Ageing. His work concerns understanding aging through the genetics of C. elegans.
Gems went to the University of Sussex, graduating in 1983 with a BSc in Biochemistry. After graduation in 1983, Gems pursued various work in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Mexico and USA. It is alleged that during his time in Nicaragua, Gems associated with the Sandinista National Liberation Front.
