Biography

David Avnir (born 1947) is an Israeli professor of chemistry at Hebrew University where he also got his education. He was awarded Israel Chemical Society Prize in 2011 and was a head of the Institute of Chemistry. Co-founder of the International Sol-Gel Society. As of 2015 he has over 360 peer-reviewed articles in print which were cited nearly 23000 times and has a Google-Scholar h-index of 69. After ending his duties as head of the Institute of Chemistry he took a position of the head of the Authority for Graduate Students in the Experimental Sciences. As of October 2014 he co-heads a laboratory at the ITMO University, concentrating on sol-gel materials for biochemical engineering and semiconductor technologies.
