Biography
Colin Ryan (born 2 September 1988) is an Irish hurler who plays as a midfielder for the Clare senior team. He is a Secondary School Maths teacher in Salesian Secondary College Pallaskenry, Co Limerick.
Born in Newmarket-on-Fergus, County Clare, Ryan first excelled at hurling whilst at school in St. Flannan's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Clare minor team, before later lining enjoying All-Ireland success with the under-21 side. He made his senior debut in the 2007 championship. Ryan has since gone on to play a key part for Clare, winning one National Hurling League (Division 1B) medal.
He won his first All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship winners medal in 2013 as Clare defeated Cork in the final after a replay. Ryan finished the 2013 Championship as top scorer with 70 points.
As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team, Ryan has won one Railway Cup medal. At club level he has won one championship medal with Newmarket-on-Fergus.
Ryan confirmed in January 2017 that he was taking an extended break from inter-county hurling and would miss the 2017 Season.
