Biography
Christopher Marquis is the Samuel C. Johnson Professor in Sustainable Global Enterprise and Professor of Management at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.
Marquis received his Ph.D. in Sociology and Business Administration from the University of Michigan in 2005. Prior to his career in academia, Marquis was a Vice President at J.P. Morgan Chase.
From 2005 to 2015, Marquis taught at Harvard Business School. He has been an Associate Editor of Administrative Science Quarterly since 2014.
The main focus of his' research has been on the interactions between corporations, government bodies, and society. He has focused on how these interactions can lead to socially and environmentally beneficial outcomes. Marquis has spent much of his career focusing on how these processes occur in China. In more recent years, he has shifted his research and teaching toward understanding the B Corp movement and benefit corporations.
His work has been published in leading management and sociology journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Harvard Business Review, Organization Science, and Strategic Management Journal. Marquis has also been featured in a number of edited collections.
