Born at Yzeure, near Moulins, France, on Oct 19, 1896. His studies at the Arts Décoratifs and at the Beaux-Arts in Paris were interrupted by WWI. In 1920, he became teacher of Fine Arts and started to show his paintings. In 1929, he joined the Salon d'automne to which he contributed more than 50 years.He was a close friend of the Cubist painter André Lhote and a member of his academy in Montparnasse.He held one-man exhibitions in Paris in 1944 and 1954. His watercolours were well appreciated as his oils on canvas. He was also interested in tapestry, illustration, paper cutouts, etc. He devoted the last 20 years of his life to abstract painting and creative photography.
