Biography

Charles Vere Ferrers Townshend 'Charlie' Bootland (born 17 April 1916) was a Scottish footballer who played for Dumbarton, Clyde and Kilmarnock.

My father was sent to QVS in Dunblane Scotland age of 9years, while in the Army he played amateur games  Played against the English the Scottish Amateur X1  8/3/1938. unfortunately they lost. Then WW11 happened.  He one one of the  10000 of the 51st Division who were captured at St Valery-en-Caux. When in  POW, he continued to play football. He played against the English and this time he won scoring 2 of the 4 goals. After the war he went on to play for Dumbarton, but there was a chance he wold play for Celtic. Went on to play for Clyde and playing in the 1949 Scottish Cup Final against Ranger, then went on to play for Killie and then Leith Athletics, this being is last .
