Biography
Bryan Tanaka (born April 11, 1983) is an American professional choreographer, model, actor, and dancer.
One of the most sought-after dance professionals in the pop and hip-hop scene, he is an instructor at the famous Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles.
In his career, he has worked with several famed musicians, including Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, and Destiny's Child.
Life and career
Bryan Tanaka was born Bryan Kekoa Tanaka in Lacey, Washington, on April 11, 1983. After practicing martial arts in his youth, he began his career as a professional choreographer/dancer and actor by the time he was eighteen.
In 2006, he was seen in the episode "What About Bob?" (Season 3, episode 11, aired August 20, 2006) of the HBO TV series Entourage starring Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, and Kevin Connolly.
Tanaka has performed at major music awards such as Grammy, MTV Video Music Awards, and European Music Awards. In 2009, Tanaka, Frank Gatson Jr., and Phlex choreographed the music video for Beyoncé and Lady Gaga's Video Phone. For their work, the three dancers shared the nomination for Best Choreography at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. At the awards ceremony, Tanaka also presented with Usher.
In the early 2010s, Tanaka directed, choreographed, and acted in Kevin Cosson's album "Hook vs Bridge".
In 2014, Tanaka released his first single "Bounce" on Sony Music's record label Voltron360.
As a model, Tanaka has appeared in advertising campaigns for Nike, Pepsi, McDonald's, Old Navy, and iPod. In 2014, he was the artistic director and choreographer of the Nike Global Maxim Awards held at the company's headquarters in Portland, Oregon.
In 2015, Tanaka performed with Madonna at the Grammy Awards and Brit Music Awards.
Personal life
In October 2016, Tanaka began dating Mariah Carey. After seven of relationship, they split in December 2023. As reported by PageSix, Tanaka wanted to start a family, whereas Carey doesn't.
