Biography

Brian Richard Ede (born 9 March 1946) is a former Australian politician. He was the Labor member for Stuart in the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly from 1983 to 1996 and led Labor unsuccessfully to the 1994 territory election. When Ede conceded defeat at the 1994 election he refused to congratulate the CLP accusing them of negative tactics. In fact when Ede stood down as ALP leader in 1996, CLP Chief Minister Shane Stone was not dignified in addressing the departure of his opponent saying that Ede had been given his marching orders by his party.
