Biography

Basarab III cel Bătrân ("the Old"), also known as Laiotă Basarab or Basarab Laiotă was domnitor of the principality of Wallachia in the 1470s, repeating the achievement of Dan II in being elected by the boyars as Prince on five different occasions. Moreover, he succeeded the same domnitor (Radu cel Frumos in Basarab's case) on four separate occasions. Two of his reigns also surrounded the last period in which Vlad III the Impaler ruled over Wallachia.
He ruled:
In the year 1473.
In the year 1474.
He ran again in the year 1474 because he was arrested
Between the years 1475 and 1476.
Between the years 1476 and 1477.
In 1479 he joined in the Battle of Breadfield, and died in December 1480.
