Biography

Barnaba Bruti, Barnaba Brutti di Giacomo or Barnabà Brati (1583–1660) was an Albanian Venetian cavalier, musician and an important member of the medieval Albanian Bruti family. Barnaba was in the service of Venice for 17 years as a dragoman and in 1619, he was raised to a knighthood "Chevalier de l'Eperon d'Oro" by Doge Antonio Priuli. In 1620, Bruti played music with Frater Gabriello Pulit (c. 1583-1644). Bruti was married three times: first to Maria Civran, then to Paola Vergerio and then to Giovanna Capellichio. In 1620, Gabriello Puliti composed "Lilia convallium Beatae Mariae Virginis. Libro terzo delli con certi a una voce, op. 22" in honour of Barnaba Bruti.
