Biography
Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba (Born 26 January 1962) is a Nepalese politician,Philanthropy and a social worker. She is a member of Nepalese Constituent Assembly from Nepali Congress.
Apart from politics, she is actively involved in running numerous social organizations and has a special interest in the empowerment of women in Nepal.
Dr. Deuba was elected as regional councillor of the World Conservation Union (IUCN) during its fourth world congress held in Barcelona, Spain on October 2008. Dr. Deuba is the first candidate to be elected from Nepal in IUCN's highest decision-making body.
Education
Dr. Deuba graduated from St. Bedes College, Himachal Pradesh University. She obtained her master's degree from Punjab University. She also obtained her Ph.D in organizational Psychology in 1990 from Punjab University India.
Social works
Dr. Deuba is the President of SAATHI, a non-governmental organization working in the area of violence against girls and women in Nepal. She is the Executive Director of SAMANTA Institute for Social and Gender Issues, a non-governmental organization working mainly in research and training on multi-sectored issues pertaining to gender. She is also the founder and chairperson of Rural Women's Development and Unity Centre, which has established a low-risk birthing center in far-western Nepal. She is Honorary Chairperson of Safe Motherhood Federation, Nepal.
Family life
She is married to ex-Prime Minister and leader of Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba and has a son, Jaiveer Singh Deuba.
