Biography
Arthur E. Chadwick is an American orchid grower.
He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State and an MBA from James Madison. He founded Chadwick & Son Orchids Inc in 1989 with his father, A. A. Chadwick, who has been growing orchids since 1943. Chadwicks has 11 greenhouses in Powhatan County, Virginia and a retail store in Richmond. The company has been featured in Southern Living magazine and the New York Times.
With his father, Chadwick co-authored The Classic Cattleyas on large-flowered Cattleya species (corsage orchids). Martha Stewart favorably reviewed the book and both Chadwicks appeared on her television show. Chadwick has named Cattleya hybrids after the wives of the last four U.S. Presidents and has personally presented the flowers to the recipients.
Chadwick appears on the orchid society speaker's circuit in the US. He has also spoken at the Western Australian Orchid Conference and the World Orchid Conference in France. He has published a monthly column on orchids in the Richmond Times-Dispatch since 2002, which also appears in the Winston-Salem Journal.
