Biography

Amy Weiss is a rabbi and authority in teen sexuality education within Jewish thought and tradition. She is the founder and executive director of the Initiative for Jewish Women, where she has established the initiatives There's Only 1U, and Undies for Everyone.
Weiss's column, "Parenting with Courage," appears every Friday in the Belief section of the Houston Chronicle. Her blog for the paper, Some Views from a Jew, offers perspectives on contemporary Jewish life in Houston and nationally.
Weiss also works as director of Food and Nutrition for Houston Hillel.

Education

She graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in 1983. She received a Master of Arts from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1991, a Master of Arts in Hebrew Literature from HUC-JIR in 1994, and was ordained at HUC-JIR in 1995.
