Biography
Amy Morin is a Scottish-born American psychotherapist and author best known for authoring 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do.
Education
Morin studied Social Work at the University of Maine, graduating in 2001. After finishing her bachelor's education, she enrolled with the University of New England for advanced studies and graduated with a Master's degree in Clinical/Medical Social Work in 2002.
Books
In 2013, while going through a difficult phase in her life, Morin wrote a letter to herself about the bad habits she wanted to avoid. A few days later, she compiled a list of 13 bad habits and published it on forbes.com. The post went viral and Morin was contacted by a literary agent suggesting her to write a book on the topic.
In December 2014, she published her first book, 13 Things Mentally Strong People Avoid and How You Can Become Your Strongest and Best Self. The book was an international success. She followed up with 13 Things Mentally Strong Parents Don’t Do, in September 2017, and 13 Things Mentally Strong Women Don’t Do, in December 2018.
Media attention
The Guardian called Morin “The self-help guru of the moment,” Forbes called her a “thought leadership star,” and Inc. Magazine named her one of the top 100 leadership speakers of 2018.
