Biography

Amir Marashi (born 1979) is an Iranian American obstetrician and gynecologist (OB/GYN). He is the first doctor in the United States to host an official cosmetic gynecology rotation for OB/GYN residency training.

Early life and education

Marashi was born in Iran. He has stated that, at the age of ten, he began watching his surgeon father working in operating rooms. Marashi later received his medical degree from Islamic Azad University, Tehran Medical Branch in 2004. He then performed research at Stanford University and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

Career

Medical practice

Marashi is a board-certified OB/GYN. In April 2019, his position on the prevalence of undiagnosed endometriosis cases was included in an Allure essay by his patient, Azmia Magane. Marashi has been noted as a proponent of cannabidiol as a medical treatment for chronic pain associated with the condition.

In May 2019, Marashi coauthored a British Medical Journal case report, Evacuation of a large traumatic vulvar haematoma with an intravaginal cosmetic approach. The report analyzed his performance of a surgical procedure to treat a patient's vulvar haematoma measuring 12 cm after a jet ski accident. Noted in the journal as an "innovation in treatment", the case received subsequent news coverage from media outlets such as Fox News Digital and Health Magazine.
