Biography
Dr. Alija Behmen (born 25 December 1940) is former mayor of Sarajevo and a member of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Behmen previously served as Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2001 to 2003.
Behmen was elected mayor of Sarajevo in January 2009.
He finished his bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctorate degree in economics at the University of Sarajevo. He is also a professor at the University of Sarajevo.
