Biography
HON. ALICE KARAMUZI KABOYO
Background
Hon. Alice Karamuzi Kaboyo is a Ugandan politician. She is the current State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister for the Luweero Triangle and Rwenzori Region. She is an administrator experienced in coordinating mobilisation and monitoring social services and overseer of the Ministry of Luwero Rwenzori Triangle.
With over two decades of experience serving Uganda in various portfolios, from the highest echelons of power, the fountain of honour Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and the young people of our nation to currently working with civilian veterans of Uganda under the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Alice brings immense knowledge and skills to the political landscape of Uganda.
She is a mother and grandmother, but she is also the caretaker of a number of disadvantaged children around the country.
Political career
She is the current Minister of State for Luwero Triangle, a position she has held since January 2021. In her term in office, she has effectively interfaced with civilian veterans and coordinated government support for their homesteads with the aim of improving livelihoods, participated in reviews of the effectiveness of resource use in different state and donor-funded projects and programmes, and prepared reports with the major aim of sourcing livelihood for the people of the Luwero Rwenzori triangle.
Until her appointment as Minister Hon. Alice Kaboyo was the head of the NRM Archives a department that houses historical facts for the revolution.
Milstones
As an administrator with OPM, she has been instrumental in providing support in the management of relationships with key partners and providing inputs for steering the ministry to greater heights. Her participation in internal and external consultative meetings, events, and forums with the donor community helps strengthen support for key projects in the country. She has been key in providing inputs for the design and implementation of effective financial appropriation strategies in line with requirements as set by the government of Uganda.
Prior to her current role, while at State House in the NRM Archives department, she was responsible for documenting the contributions of revolutionaries and creating a foundation and data base for the department.
As a chair on the youth desk in the statehouse, she was responsible for changing the stories of many young people in the country by providing mentorship and facilitation for their career wellbeing. She was key during this time in coordinating with embassies on matters relating to social factors about which civilian veterans’ causes are of concern. Relaying presidential commitments to civilian veterans in the form of ex-gratia and reviving the NRA spirit and patriotism amongst people who generously contributed to the NRM government
