Alex Roshuk (born in New York, New York, (1956-07-14)July 14, 1956, died November 9, 2014(2014-11-09) (aged 58)) practiced law in New York since 1998, was the first legal advisor to the Wikimedia Foundation from 2003 to 2005. Roshuk wrote a 1,300-word summary of arbitration and mediation modes of legal dispute resolution that became the basis for the Wikipedia Arbitration Committee. Roshuk also worked in the entertainment industry as director, editor and held numerous other positions.
He has directed several educational television documentaries Italian and a short film entitled The Wizard of Malta in 1981. He is also founder of The Standby Program, a nonprofit organization for postproduction.
Roshuk was an electrical engineer and entertained children as "Brooklyn Santa" from 1966 until at least 2012. Alex was also a participant in the Association of Arbitrators of the New York City Civil Court.
