Máximo Agustín Mantilla Campos (December 10, 1944 – November 20, 2015) was a Peruvian economist, sociologist and politician.

Biography

Born in 1944 in Lima, he studied economics at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and Sociology at the Universidad Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. Since 1965 he enrolled himself at the Peruvian Aprista Party, where he was the secretary general from 1992 to May 1995. He served as private secretary of former President Alan García from 1979 to 1985

On March 13, 2000 Agustín Mantilla received $ 30,000 from Vladimiro Montesinos. In 2002, Mantilla was sentenced to six years in prison for the crime of corruption of officials.
