Biography

Agnes Anne Abbot (1897 – 1992) was a German-born American painter and watercolorist known for her paintings of New England.

Agnes Anne Abbot was born in 1897 in Potsdam, Germany. Her father was a dentist who studied at Harvard Dental School in Boston, Massachusetts. Later, the family moved to Berlin, Germany, where she studied at the Berlin Academy.

From 1906 to 1913, Abbot spent her summers on Cape Cod in Massachusetts, and in 1917, she settled with her family in the Boston area and attended the School of Fine Arts and Crafts in Boston, graduating in 1921. Her teachers there include Charles Howard WalkerAldro HibbardCharles Herbert Woodbury, and Katherine Child.

Death

Abbot died in 1992 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of 95.
