Biography

Adarnase the Patrikios (Georgian: ადარნასე), Atrnerseh (Armenian: Ատրներսեհ), or Adharnarse b. Hammam, was ruler of Hereti between 897–943. He was son and successor of Grigol Hamam. He was married to Queen Dinar, a daughter of Adarnase III of Tao, with whom he had son Ishkhanik. In the 906 Constantine III of Abkhazia and Chorbishop of Kakheti, Kvirike I forged an alliance against Adarnase. The allies invaded Hereti and besieged Vezhini. When they were on the point of capturing the fortress Adarnase the Patrikios came and offered peace terms. He ceded Arishi and Gavazi to the King of the Abkhazians, and Ortchobi to Kvirike.
