Biography

Ada County in Idaho is named after Ada Hobbs Riggs (3 April 1856 – 29 May 1909).

Riggs was born April 3, 1856, to Henry Chiles Riggs (1826 – 1912) and Mary Ann Lipscomb (1834 – 1912), in Napa County, California. Her father was a member of the Boise legislature who established Ada county and introduced the bill that established Boise as the capital of Idaho in 1864.

Riggs married John R. Coon (1864 - 1920) on 26 February 1884 at Caldwell, Canyon, Idaho.

She died on May 29, 1909, in San Francisco, California, at the age of 53.
