Abshir Boyah

Abshir Boyah is a Somali pirate. He is one of the best known pirates to emerge from Somalia during the increase of Somali-based pirate activity in the early 21st century. He is based in Puntland and is considered a celebrity there.
Boyah began his career in the early 1990s as a lobster fisherman. Due to aggressive and often violent behavior by foreign fishing operations off the Somali coast, Boyah began capturing foreign fishing vessels.
