Biography

Abram Oldrin Salter (March 8, 1838 — May 7, 1921) was an American real-estate lawyer in New York.

Salter was born on March 8, 1838, in New York City, New York, to Albert Salter I (1811–1882) and Mary Oldrin Salter (1813–1849). He studied law at Columbia University, New York, and was admitted to the New York City Bar Association in 1859. 

He was a partner at the New York City-based law firm "Salter & Cowing" with a well-known New York City Judge and Wall Street lawyer Rufus Billings Cowing (1840-1920), until around 1879.

Salter was a member of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society. 

Personal life

Salter married Eva Augusta Briggs Salter (1856–1902) on March 10, 1886. They had a daughter, Violette Seabury Salter (1887–1948).

Death

Salter died on May 7, 1921, in Fordham, Bronx, New York, at the age of 83.
