Biography

Aaron Svensgaurd Koppar (March 14, 1748 in Marstrand, Sweden – January 2, 1814) was a Swedish General in the Dano-Swedish War of 1808–09 who is most know for his command of His Majesty's Own 2nd Kalmar Infantry at the Battle of Våstanom on June 2, 1808 where he led 150 Swedish regulars against 80 Norwegian militia men.

After this battle he retired to his hometown of Marstrand to care for his sick wife. Koppar was called again to command the 7th House Cavalry in the War of the Sixth Coalition but during the march to Denmark he contracted scurvy and died January 2, 1814.
